Ready to join the SeaKeeper crew?

SeaKeeper Academy is a free afterschool program for middle school students who are curious, adventurous, and ready to protect what matters. Whether you love science, want to learn how to kayak, or just want to try something new, we’d love to hear from you.

But here’s the catch:
We only have 25 spots available for Fall 2025.
That means we’re looking for students who are excited to learn, work as a team, and show up with curiosity and commitment each week.

Who Can Apply?

This program is open to:

Middle school students (grades 6–8)
From Long Beach and surrounding communities
Who can attend all 10 sessions (Wednesdays from 3:30–6:30 PM)

No experience with science or kayaking is needed, just a willingness to learn and grow.

When Does It Happen?

Program Dates: Wednesdays, September 17 – November 19, 2025
Time: 3:30–6:30 PM
Location: Long Beach Sea Base (on Alamitos Bay)

How Do I Apply?

Step 1: Fill out the online application form
Step 2: Answer a few short questions to help us get to know you
Step 3: Submit your application by September 1, 2025

We’ll review all applications and notify students by September 5 to let them know if they’ve been selected.

Things to Know Before You Apply

SeaKeeper Academy is completely free
Transportation is not provided (let us know if this may be a challenge)
Students must attend all 10 sessions
This is a hands-on program so come ready to move, explore, and be present
This is a team-based experience. You’ll be part of a crew that learns and grows together
